Slammin' Sarah

I was watching this video today, two young ladies from Alaska being interviewed about their thoughts on Sarah Palin. I'm not an idiot, I'm aware one can no doubt also find some big Palin fans out there explaining how much she rocks, but I thought a couple of the comments from these gals were mostly just entertaining for me. Because I'm admittedly biased, of course.

Anyway, with all of the hype about Sarah being the country's "most popular governor" in forever apparently, and a main reason why she was selected by McCain in the first place (that and also that she has the boobies, of course) when asked about the reasons she was so popular the answer from young lady number one, "It's honestly because the governor before her, Murkowski, was a corrupt slimebag ... there's no reason to think that she's a good governor because she has high popularity. Alaskans have very low standards for their politicians." I thought that was funny.

And then from young lady number two, her thoughts after pointing out the fact that Palin is simply charming and, of course, attractive (I'll even concede that hottiness position,) "She doesn't really have any sort of platform ... people love her, she stays out of their business ... but that's far from what we need for a vice president."

Finally, the part about how she's not very intelligent, not educated in government nor politics nor world affairs, and that if elected it would represent women as being ignorant and ill-prepared for whatever the job any woman might be hired to perform. I tend to agree with that.

Comments

  1. I always cringe when I hear McCain say "she's the most popular governor." This isn't about popularity, it's about competence. Did you see TDS when Jason Jones went to Wasilla and interviewed the current mayor? It makes you think that Palin really didn't have a lot to do there. I remember in a town nearby me a teenager became mayor.
I think some people are looking at McCain's age and are thinking about her stepping in if he gets ill or something. If the VP doesn't work out she can get a gig on Faux News.

  2. Speaking of competence, I frankly don't think she's even up to FOX News standards really. Which is pretty pathetic.

  3. Well, like I told you months ago...my friend in Anchorage wrote me the day after the announcement and shared her embarrassment.

I Think

I think I'm bored blogging. I think I'm done with it. I think what's the point? I think you should check out my blogroll instead. I think they say stuff better anyway.

Betty White "needs to start taking her relationship with God serious." Seriously?

I was one of those grassroots Facebook campaigners responsible for Betty White hosting Saturday Night Live the other night, so for that, let me just say: "You're very welcome!" I thought she was fantastic, better even than I had expected she might be, and by most accounts her coming on the show was a huge success. Except for some, who apparently had more eternal concerns weighing on their minds, precluding enjoying it so much. Like Jose, who while conceding that Betty White is legend "in this day and age of rebels and rockers" (I really don't know what that means, but it seems to be a good thing), is more concerned about her afterlife appearance instead, presumably being so old as she is. A legend, sure ... "However, I think Betty really needs to start taking her relationship with God serious. Betty can't please this new generation, she has nothing to prove to them. Her relationship with the Lord is what she needs to take serious." Well, all...

It Could Happen

I was digging deep again, as I do every year or so, into my box of keepsakes and relics that I really don't know why I kept them but did. Stuff I wrote as a kid (some of that, I must say, rather disturbing), old letters of the real life mailed sort, newspaper clippings of miscellany, that have strangely yellowed and gotten brittle already and that shit just ain't right since it seems not so long ago ... whatever, I'm getting old. From the Kansas City Kansan , newspaper that we got delivered daily, Friday, July 25, 1975, I had cut out and kept this one particular article headlined "Youngster completes first novel." I was always writing as a kid, so I remember very well snipping this one item, on account of the twelve-years-old youngster was my same age, and I very much wanted my own novel published. Of course I hadn't written it yet, but I figured this proved I could do it, too, kept it for an affirmation thingy. Over the years I've remembered saving that s...
