Obstructionism the Bunning Way

You know it's bad when the "Party of No" gets all squirmy about one of their own, a fellow-Republican, demonstrating just why the label. Senator Jim Bunning from Kentucky flustered even his partisan peers by digging in his heels to not let pass emergency legislation extending unemployment benefits for the long-term jobless still out of work. Of course, he ultimately caved and at the end of the day (literally) the Senate passed the measure ready to send on to the president for signing into law. But the inconstancy, not to mention the thoughtlessness, of Bunning's one-man filibuster that delayed getting it there is certainly notable. Such a poser, acting suddenly all fiscally responsible, going on insisting that the extended unemployment pay must be paid for rather than added to the deficit. "If we cannot pay for a bill that all 100 senators support, how can we tell the American people with a straight face that we will ever pay for anything?" he said. ...

Gay Hooky Day

Sorry to disappoint my fellow homos, some of which will no doubt be on board with this whole deal and probably even participating, and fabulous best wishes for them all. You go, boys and girls! But this "calling in gay day" for tomorrow is just flat out embarrassing to me personally. Exactly how is this making any point supporting the gay marriage thing, the impetus for this entire nationwide game plan? Ah, that's right, it doesn't really at all. It accomplishes nothing toward that end, of course, despite that being the original issue providing the instigators their Eureka! moment of deciding to rally together all workerbee Ls, Gs, Bs and Ts to validate just how reliant their companies are on them showing up in order to stay afloat... the " Day Without a Gay " scheduled for mañana I suppose is meant to make at least that much clear. But a stupid approach and bad idea overall just the same. Mostly meaningless, though, are the extraneous bits of the planned ...

Just An Ordinary Day

Alrighty then, a year ago to the day the Dow hit an all time record high of 14,000-plus and now we're only at 8,000 and some change, lowest in forever. Well, not forever maybe, but in a long time. And seven days in a row with the plummeting so far, still counting. Meanwhile you all are paying out over a trillion dollars already committed to bailing out the asshole unruly idiots and even providing hundreds of millions of dollars take home pay for some after them getting fired, not to mention footing the bill for these loser companies' employee vacations at nearly half a mil a pop. Anyway, my point is, you know what? Yeah, things suck. Probably will for quite some time, actually, and surely there's much justified and warranted worry and concern, I understand that. Bottom line, though, not to belittle the mess of things or whatever, but at least it wouldn't hurt to also remember that not only will things eventually get better but that just appreciating every ordinary day f...

Take Your Mama Out - If You Can Afford To

This video is just because, and I also do have a crush on gay boy Jake Shears anyway. I like this song written basically about him coming out to his mom. Plus I've been watching endlessly this whole economic fiasco unfold all day long and am frankly tired of it already. I think I'm a masochist maybe, but one can only take so much. News is turned off now, shifting gears. Music makes me happy. Scissor Sisters - Take Your Mama
