Wayward Son

I heard this song played today for the first time in a coon's age. Always a special one on my reminiscing playlist, it's what happened to be playing on the radio when I smoked my first ever joint.

Memories. I was in the back seat, my friend Martha and her then boyfriend of the day were up front. He liked the ganja and I was only a teenager, and we sometimes tend to try out new stuff around that time, you know. So anyway, we were on our way to my other friend Cheryl's high school's production of Fiddler on the Roof.

I remember nothing about the show, other than that I found it extraordinarily funny until I couldn't hold back and we were eventually tossed out because of my laughing out loud. Good times.

The plus side is we then could swing by the 7-11 and stock up on some much-needed munchies. I've always been a mess, still am carrying on though. The boyfriend's name was also Doug, and he drove an AMC Hornet. Don't even know why I remember that.

Tomorrow my birthday, probably the reason for such flashbacks. A new day maybe, but I'll no doubt still be the same wayward mess as I am today, only just older. And truth be told, that's fine by me.

  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FIRST OF ALL! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked, "boyfriend of the day." ha. Sounds like my sis. :) She once broke up with a guy cause he cut his HUGE afro, and another for wearing white socks with black pants. :)

I remember this song! Not into rock but for some reason have always liked this one and would not change the station...even sang the chorus. Come to think of it, the words...yeah, hit home. No wonder I liked it. It spoke to me. Thanks for the flashback!

  5. Happy B-day! Party on wayward son!

I can't hear Kansas without thinking of how crazy the lead singer was in concert. It was very memorable. He did handstands on the piano and sang "Dust" like it was a hardcore thrash metal song!

    I still love this song.

  7. Thanks for the birthday wishes, y'all! And to Lumina, can't say that I blame sis for moving on from the white socks with black pants, the afro I guess it might depend on just how big. Okay, speaking of flashbacks, I remember myself wearing white socks with black pants even, he was probably an awesome guy really. Erika, I've seen Kansas in concert back in the day more than once, they do put on a good show! Dust is also a favorite, their music, that and this one do somehow carry a message. The one here though as good as it might be always gets lost in thinking about my pothead days instead. :-) Thanks again everybody.

Georgia outlaws microchip implants: "Just imagine having a beeper in your rectum and your beeper numbers displayed on billboards throughout the city."

Well, that bill passed, the one from Georgia "so as to prohibit requiring a person to be implanted with a microchip," Senate Bill 235 . At least it made its way through the House Judiciary Committee, anyway, next stop the House Rules Committee that decides whether it moves on to the full House vote and (fingers crossed) final passage. I'd think it probably should, taking into account the compelling testimony brought up at this last hearing, from some fat lady about why non-consensual chipping should be made against the law. There she described in detail her own personal experience, with being implanted against her druthers: "I'm also one of the people in Georgia who has a microchip," she began. ("Also one?" There's more of them there?) She went on about the specific disadvantages, how it violates one's "right to work without being tortured by co-workers who are activating these microchips by using their cell phones and other electro

I think I'm bored blogging. I think I'm done with it. I think what's the point? I think you should check out my blogroll instead. I think they say stuff better anyway.

Hung on the Cross

So what, I'm not very mature for my age. I don't care, I'm easily amused because of it, and I enjoy being amused. Like this picture of a crucifix which was hoisted a couple of months ago above the main altar at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic church in Oklahoma: I can come up with lots of hilariously inappropriate captions here, some that even I am embarrassed to admit thinking up, despite my unabashed crudity. I would share but probably everyone else is too sophisticated to see the humor. Plus, I really don't want to go to Hell. I'm guessing that there are an awful lot of Okie parishioners down there at the church where this is hung for real, who I reckon wouldn't appreciate my sense of humor about it, either. They are, in general, hugely offended by it instead, because they see nothing funny whatsoever about displaying Jesus' ginormous penis in church, not in the least bit! Seems as though this has caused quite a "deep divide" among members o
