Like most other gay folks, I was gratified the other night to hear President Obama announce at the State of the Union address his intention to put repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell on the agenda for 2010. Of course we were all hyped when we heard it the first time, too. Back when he was pandering the rainbow coalition for votes during his campaign, pledging to be a "fierce advocate" for LGBT rights. To start working toward getting rid of DADT during his first year as president was part of that promise. Not that he has totally snubbed us, I guess, but tagging him a "fierce advocate" is probably a stretch . It's really little wonder that much of the queer community reacted approvingly, but also with a fair amount of skepticism, the other night after hearing him vow again to do what he vowed once before with nothing gotten done so far. This DADT thing, I wouldn't think, should be such a big ordeal to get over and done with in short order. Even military p...
Yes! That was good! I took off my panties, through my pants, while I waited for peeps to log on. And? Five friends? I am happy to say, that I thought about it for a minute, but realized I really don't have any friends that need to be told/reminded. Nope. Theysa votin for sure!
ReplyDeleteHugs to you my son. Been missin alot on yer, Rain's and Diane's blog. Just haven't had the "focus." You know...the "pause?" *insert scream from horror flick here*
Thanks for the hug. I understand that the hot flashes probably take the focus off of ... well, pretty much anything else. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, it's more than hot flashes...lack of energy, fat ass, the attention span of a flea...should I go on? :)
ReplyDeleteNo, please don't! Women. Happy for my gayness here. Hey, at least you'll hopefully have enough energy to take that fat ass with still enough attention paid to voting the right way. Bring a fan and a Red Bull or something. :-)
ReplyDeleteUh-hem, excuse me, DOUG, not all women have hot flashes, PMS, STDs (I'm guesing, poor lumina...too much love on her blog) etc. I WILL however take a Red Bull, oh, wait, is that a drink? hahahahaha
ReplyDeletePS//FYI Diane has now finished ER seasons 1-8...very dang sad. Thanks for the bummer. (STOP)
I love my women, I do, with or without the hot flashes! Truly. Don't misunderstand. I'm just thankful I came out from when I was married before I had to know whether or not what might happen with my wife at the time! And actually, there was some PMSing, but not so bad really as some. I still love the ladies, I guess that's all I'm saying. How it turned into this from a Vote PSA I have no idea, but I'm missing some brain cells so I just go with whatever.
