Forget To Remember

This one is for Cris (deuxième), and for myself as well. I had a dream last night ... one of those vivid, life-rewound varieties of dreams, affective and not easily shaken. Love you, and still sorry.
What have I done? Where have I come from?

When I burnt the backs with the sun through a glass did I seal the loss that's become me?

Feeling undone, what have I become? When I turned my back on you I turned my back on myself and became this machine.

Thoughtlessness, selfishness, hopelessness, arrogant.

I feel it on the inside, twisting and contorting. Memory has shaped me once again.

Still feel you on the inside, biting through and stinging. Will I ever forget to remember?

Shadows in the sun filter through us. Still wrestle the demons that arrested me as a child, confession rejected.

We grow up to give up. People step on the cracks for wounds owed paid back through the words of surrender.

Emptiness, loneliness, listlessness, worthless.

Can you save me from myself, from these memories?

Surrender to the shadows haunting inside, bleed through you.

Surrender to the secrets ... inside lies within you.

Can't feel you on the inside, set down the bag and left it. Lost memory has left me once again.

Open up the inside, admission for the cleansing, now that I've forgotten to remember.

  1. Cool song. I'm going to get this CD. I love it when the devil comes out and sings (ha). Other bands I enjoy that have possessed singers are: Korn, Taproot in "Poem," Disturbed, Tool, and Breaking Benjamin. Whether they are possessed or just have multiple personalities, it always adds to a song and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy- ha. Seriously, I really do like when a song transgresses the norm.

  2. I've just noticed the lyrics and how poetic and deep they are. While listening, I wasn't paying attention to the words; but, then I played Breaking Benjamin's "Until the End"(the antithesis to this song) and the words seemed more meaningful in contrast-weird. So I looked up those lyrics and it almost seems like the answer to this song. Here is a part:
    [Chorus:]
"Why give up, why give in?
It's not enough, it never is.
So I will go on until the end.
    We've become desolate.
It's not enough, it never is.
But I will go on until the end.

    Surround me,
    It's easy
    To fall apart completely.
I feel you creeping up again.
    (In my head)
    It's over,
    No longer,
    I feel it growing colder.
I knew this day would come to end,
    So let this life begin.

    [Chorus]

    I've lost my way.
I've lost my way, but I will go on until the end.

    Living is hard enough
    Without you fucking up."

I'm not pretending to know your situation, I just wanted to share my rock opera. Hope you are forgiven.

  3. Amazing the words of so many songs when you pay attention. Breaking Benjamin rocks, great song, great lyrics there, too! Thanks for posting those, I appreciated it, don't think I had considered them before, but the words are great. (I also like their Diary of Jane song, thanks for the reminder!) And lovely erika, always a soulmate in most excellent tuneage. :-)

I Think

I think I'm bored blogging. I think I'm done with it. I think what's the point? I think you should check out my blogroll instead. I think they say stuff better anyway.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell - Just Do It

Like most other gay folks, I was gratified the other night to hear President Obama announce at the State of the Union address his intention to put repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell on the agenda for 2010. Of course we were all hyped when we heard it the first time, too. Back when he was pandering the rainbow coalition for votes during his campaign, pledging to be a "fierce advocate" for LGBT rights. To start working toward getting rid of DADT during his first year as president was part of that promise. Not that he has totally snubbed us, I guess, but tagging him a "fierce advocate" is probably a stretch . It's really little wonder that much of the queer community reacted approvingly, but also with a fair amount of skepticism, the other night after hearing him vow again to do what he vowed once before with nothing gotten done so far. This DADT thing, I wouldn't think, should be such a big ordeal to get over and done with in short order. Even military p...

Hung on the Cross

So what, I'm not very mature for my age. I don't care, I'm easily amused because of it, and I enjoy being amused. Like this picture of a crucifix which was hoisted a couple of months ago above the main altar at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic church in Oklahoma: I can come up with lots of hilariously inappropriate captions here, some that even I am embarrassed to admit thinking up, despite my unabashed crudity. I would share but probably everyone else is too sophisticated to see the humor. Plus, I really don't want to go to Hell. I'm guessing that there are an awful lot of Okie parishioners down there at the church where this is hung for real, who I reckon wouldn't appreciate my sense of humor about it, either. They are, in general, hugely offended by it instead, because they see nothing funny whatsoever about displaying Jesus' ginormous penis in church, not in the least bit! Seems as though this has caused quite a "deep divide" among members o...
