For God's Sake!

What's taking so long?? C'mon, registrarians, get 'er done already!

My new domain is still "processing" and I can't yet get in there to start tinkering with that whole DNS CNAME management rigmarole to get it up and running. (Strikethru 2/21 - Yay!) So consider yourself on hold waiting for the next available operator (that would be me.) Until then, as is requisite while holding, enjoy some additional tuneage.

Filler, actually, until I can begin picking up where I left off over at Current Events Watch. Estimated wait time, 24 to 48 hours. Plenty of time for canciĆ³n numero dos ... thank you for your patience.

[I was a huge fan of this short-lived group Cry of Love in the early '90s. Their entire repertoire is most excellent, but the CD Brother was particularly exceptional. This song is one of my favorites. Quite apropos of the goings on these days even if the lyrics do hark back to the very beginnings of America's occupational tendencies. All in the name of God somehow. For God's sake!]

In the heat of the mornin'
In the eye of the sun
Hear the wind start blowin'
See the horse and the gun

Now the peace pipe it ain’t smokin’
All the promises are broken
In the heat of the mornin'
See the horse and the gun

All in the name of God somehow
Tearin' the temple down

Burn down the sacred ground
Tearin' the temple down
In the name of God somehow
Burn down the sacred ground

In the dead of the evenin'
When the spears come down
Say a prayer for the proud one
On the killin' ground

Now the peace pipe it is broken
All the shame has gone unspoken
In the dead of the evenin'
When the tears come down

All in the name of God somehow
Tearin' the temple down

Burn down the sacred ground
Tearin' the temple down
In the name of God somehow
Burn down the sacred ground

All in the name
All in the name
All in the name of God somehow

  4. Man, this is a killer song. I've heard it before, but would never have known the band if it weren't for you. Thanks. This makes me want to go to a bluesy rock concert at House of Blues. It is reminiscent of bands like Kenny Wayne Shepard and Big Head Todd and the Monsters.

  5. Erika - Dude, you rock! :-) No one else knows this song. Glad you at least are aware. And I, too, love my Kenny Wayne Sje[jerd AND Big Head Todd & the Monsters! Altho the only Big Head song I actually ever enjoyed was Broken Hearted Savior, all of the other ones sounded the same to me. But Kenny, everything that kid does is outstanding. Blue on Black, Slow Ride (the non-Foghat ride) ... Damn.

  6. Um - Sje[jerd = Shepherd, as we all know.

  8. when you gonna get this thing up?????

  9. jon - LOL i was one of those few who took latin in high school. not much interest there, they took it off of the curriculum the next year. actually, furibundus is used most often as the masculine of the word, furibunda is feminine, but furibundum is neuter so i chose that so as not to discriminate. it means frenzies, maddened, raving, and oddly enough, also means inspired. i thought that pretty much summed up the stuff i wrote when i was writing for currenteventswatch.com, i'm pretty opinionated. but thanks for reading, even though there's nothing really to read yet.

  10. Chrissy - Okay, I feel bad now, but I'm working on it. I left my last blog writing gig and just when I got my own up here, here comes the flu so have been lax for the last day or two. No pun intended. I'll get to work on it.

  12. Doug, I keep checking back too- and I love the name of this blog. I studied a lot of German and Spanish and love words that encompass so much meaning all wrapped up in a single word. I hope you're going to continue the music on your blog since you have such wonderful taste (like me ha). Looking forward to it. Ciao!

P.S. I think we have other things in common too based on some of your comments. Hint: I live in SF now and it's like living in Amsterdam!

Georgia outlaws microchip implants: "Just imagine having a beeper in your rectum and your beeper numbers displayed on billboards throughout the city."

Well, that bill passed, the one from Georgia "so as to prohibit requiring a person to be implanted with a microchip," Senate Bill 235 . At least it made its way through the House Judiciary Committee, anyway, next stop the House Rules Committee that decides whether it moves on to the full House vote and (fingers crossed) final passage. I'd think it probably should, taking into account the compelling testimony brought up at this last hearing, from some fat lady about why non-consensual chipping should be made against the law. There she described in detail her own personal experience, with being implanted against her druthers: "I'm also one of the people in Georgia who has a microchip," she began. ("Also one?" There's more of them there?) She went on about the specific disadvantages, how it violates one's "right to work without being tortured by co-workers who are activating these microchips by using their cell phones and other electro

I Think

I think I'm bored blogging. I think I'm done with it. I think what's the point? I think you should check out my blogroll instead. I think they say stuff better anyway.

Hung on the Cross

So what, I'm not very mature for my age. I don't care, I'm easily amused because of it, and I enjoy being amused. Like this picture of a crucifix which was hoisted a couple of months ago above the main altar at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic church in Oklahoma: I can come up with lots of hilariously inappropriate captions here, some that even I am embarrassed to admit thinking up, despite my unabashed crudity. I would share but probably everyone else is too sophisticated to see the humor. Plus, I really don't want to go to Hell. I'm guessing that there are an awful lot of Okie parishioners down there at the church where this is hung for real, who I reckon wouldn't appreciate my sense of humor about it, either. They are, in general, hugely offended by it instead, because they see nothing funny whatsoever about displaying Jesus' ginormous penis in church, not in the least bit! Seems as though this has caused quite a "deep divide" among members o
